OFA Girls Varsity Basketball Pulls Out A Close One in Norwich

After  leading by only one going into the fourth, the OFA Girls Basketball team found itself in a very close, down to the wire league game on Wednesday evening.  After building their lead to 9 points in the fourth, Norwich went on a 7-0 run to close the lead to only two points with 30 seconds remaining, Norwich had the basketball and a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but Owego’s Kaylee Miner came up with a clutch steal, and Rachel Merrill knocked down two huge foul shots to seal the 4 point victory.

It was the Lady Indians fifth straight victory, and the team improved their record to 7-2 overall on the season, 4-1 in league play.  Great efforts were put forth by everyone, but leading the team statistically were Rachel Merrill (16 points, 14 rebounds), Emily Merrill (13 points, 12 rebounds), and Jill Silvanic (9 points, 8 rebounds).
