The Section IV, Class A tourney kicks off on Friday evening in Vestal, with a match-up between 12-4 Owego and 9-9 Vestal. This game is semifinal match-up, with the winner advancing to the Broome County Arena on March 1st. There are only three schools that qualified for the sectional tournament this season, after Section IV adopted new rules specifying that you had to win at least 40% of your regular season games to qualify. Maine-Endwell, 12-3 & currently #19 in the NYS Rankings for Class A, will await the winner of Friday’s semifinal contest.
Whichever team advances out of Section IV this season will receive a bye into the NYS Quarterfinals, and will play the winner of Section 1 & Section 9 from down state.
