Owego Lady Indians Win Sixth Straight

On Friday evening, February 1st, the Owego Lady Indians won their sixth straight game, and are undefeated during the 2013 portion of the season. Led by Rachel Merrill and Emily Merrill’s 12 points apiece, Owego jumped out to a large lead early on and cruised home to a 56-27 victory. The win leaves the Indians 10-4 overall, and 7-2 in the league, currently one game ahead of Seton Catholic in the STAC Central Division. Eleven Lady Indians scored in the game, and great individual achievements were abundant. Rachel Merrill finished with 14 rebounds, Emily Merrill finished with 12 rebounds and 6 steals, Shannon Hilliker & Kira Thalacker each collected 4 rebounds, Ciarra Bodnar led the team with 3 assists, Olivia Bishop had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, Caitlin Watson grabbed 4 rebounds and had 2 assists, and Jill Silvanic continued her hot shooting from the free throw line going 5-5. Next up for the Lady Indians is a clash with Chenango Forks on Wednesday at home. It will be Senior Night, and we will be honoring our fantastic seven seniors!!! Game time is 7:15, with senior festivities kicking off around 6:45.
